Synopsis : It’s 1984 and nine-year-old Peter Quill
is beamed up by a spaceship moments after witnessing his mother die in
her hospital bed. As we jump 26 years into the future, a grownup Quill
(Chris Pratt) is dancing to his
Sony Walkman (the C90 is labelled “Awesome Mix Volume 1”), while
exploring the ruins of an ancient alien city. Our hero, an oafish
fusion of Han Solo and Indiana Jones, finds the orb seconds before a
band of gun-toting goons show up. They want to deliver it to their evil overlord Ronan (Lee Pace), a heavily made-up space fascist with the face of a heavy metal
hero and the name of a Boyzone crooner. After making his escape Quill,
who insists everyone calls him Star Lord, heads off to another planet
to flog it to an alien broker. But when he discovers that Ronan plans to
turn it into a galaxy-destroying superweapon, he finally finds his
inner hero.
